With the Christmas and New Year now behind us we are in a better position to review market conditions in the local area.
We have certainly seen increased activity throughout our open for inspections. This increased activity has resulted in an improvement in sales numbers but not prices. We remain in a buyer’s market for sure, arguably representing some of the best buying opportunities in recent times.
Predicting what the year holds is a challenging task.
Some well respected commentators are predicting some improvement in the next 1-2 years. Rental vacancies are still tight and now house construction is below what it needs to be.
Should Queensland experience an increase in interstate migration it could be that these factors continue to create a market improvement over this period.
Having said that, with State Elections imminent, employment uncertainty and international economic turmoil, there is likely to remain a nervousness in the minds of those buying/investing .
